WHAT OUR RADIOS OFFER
Types of Modems and Connectivity
Most of our radios do not use external, generic "modems" in the traditional sense; rather, specific models feature integrated connectivity options to enable data transmission:
  • Integrated LTE/4G/5G Modems: The multi-mode and PoC radios (e.g., PNC and PDC series) have built-in cellular modems that allow them to use public or private LTE networks. This enables a wide range of data services beyond standard voice calls, including:
    • Push-to-Talk over Cellular (PoC) for communication over vast, potentially worldwide, ranges.
    • Live video streaming and image sharing.
    • GPS tracking.
    • Database interrogation and text messaging.
  • Integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Modules: Many professional of our radios include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules for short-range data connectivity. Bluetooth is primarily used for audio accessories or programming the device, while Wi-Fi can be used for data transmission or connecting repeaters to a wider network (IP multi-site connect).
  • External Network Infrastructure: For extending the range of conventional systems, organizations might use external network infrastructure to link repeaters, such as DSL or cable modems. However, the radios themselves are connecting to repeaters and systems, which in turn connect to these modems.

Key Product Series with Modem Capabilities
Our radio specific products line are designed to leverage modem-based broadband networks:
  • PNC Series (PoC Radios): These are purely PoC devices that operate over cellular networks (using a SIM card) and Wi-Fi, functioning much like rugged smartphones with a dedicated PTT button.
  • PDC/PDM Series (Dual-Mode Radios): These devices converge narrowband professional radio technology with broadband (4G/LTE/Wi-Fi) into a single, rugged handset. They can automatically switch between networks to ensure continuous communication.

To determine the exact capabilities, you would need to enquire from our technical team for choice and guidance.
